In this week’s Startup Pulse, we get a little flavour for what might come with the news of Alphabet circling HubSpot, as well as some exciting fundraises!

News Pulse

• So, what do we know about the HubSpot-Google discussions? Well right now, it has only been reported that Google parent Alphabet, have been in talks with advisors about possibly making an offer.

  The Biden Administration is tightening regulation around acquisition in BigTech, so it’ll be interesting if Google shift some of their $110Bn cash stack that has been sitting around.

  HubSpot shares shot up 11% after the news, but HubSpot themselves are not commenting as per their standard policy. We’ll keep you appraised with more as we hear it!

Fundraising Pulse

• London-based Veremark raised $3M pre-seed to support their client acquisition efforts and develop their tech further. Background screening and pre-hire check services are their offering, and platforms verify candidate work histories, gather references and check qualifications, identities etc.

• Sapien raised $5M from Primitive Ventures amongst others, using funds to develop their open source gamified labelling infrastructure. San Francisco-based data labelling company wants to set new standards for how humans and AI work together - I expect we’ll keep hearing more about them in the coming months!

• Ever had issues navigating inside, outside, or underground? Independent of GPS, WiFi or Mobile Data, Waymap have designed navigation based solely on an algorithm, SmartStep. They closed £7M of funding to expand internationally, grow their APAC presence, and double-down in North America and Europe!

Spotlight Pulse

Chainels optimise their clients portfolio with their tenant experience app. Have you ever had a bad experience with an agency or landlord? Residential or commercial? Well, Chainels are a tenant engagement and community platform enhancing community communication between everyone involved in the process! This could be landlords, tenants, leaseholders, developers, and even government!
